Some blame it on Ed Sullivan.
Some blame it on the Bossa Nova.
Some blame it on Rio.
Some even blame us

Don't.
Just don't.
Jiggs Lee
Vocals, stuff singers do when not singing
His family owned Lee's Lures, LLC, a purveyor of fine custom lures, jigs and other fishing paraphernalia. They named their baby boy Jiggs, with hopes that he’d love all things fishing and grow up one day to run the family business on the beautiful shores of White Bear Lake, Minnesota.
Jiggs was a natural angler and loved the lake life, but then came Elvis Presley! The voice, the gyrating pelvis, the screaming girls… Jiggs’ brain was rewired on the spot. From that moment on, he was all about the music and wanted to be a singer in a rock-n-roll band. With Jiggs first band, The EsKorts, his parents hoped this rock-n-roll thing was just a passing fancy, but Jiggs was hooked. The EsKorts begat The Grasshoppers, who begat The Bananas and then came CAIN. His parents realized they had lost Jiggs to rock and he left their Garden of Eden.
Cain rocked all through the 70’s and made quite a name for themselves. They traveled far and wide playing their music and gaining fans everywhere. They released two critically acclaimed albums, “Pound of Flesh” and “Stinger”. The vinyl albums can still be found and are collectible, so expect to pay a premium.
The next decade or so found Jiggs fronting Fragile, one of the premier bar bands in the Twin Cities. Fans of Fragile and Cain are legion and still follow Jiggs fervently.
In 2010, Cain was inducted into the Mid America Music Hall of Fame. The new Cain line-up played at the induction and continues to perform at select summer rock festivals.
His current musical project is Jiggs Lee Invasion.
Epilogue: The re-named Lee's Lures & Jiggs, LLC has moved to Sweden. Jiggs and his parents have reconciled and he is a member of the Board of Directors. It is his parents dream that Jiggs will one day move to Sweden, take over the company and tour with Cain. Cain has a dedicated following in Sweden and is considered by Swedes to be one of the iconic rock groups of the 70’s.
Born the bastard boy of a rockabilly rebel and a runaway from the rez, Cruiser came into the world in motion. Though his birth parents loved him, they could not keep him. So they gave him to more settled relatives who raised him as their own in the protected enclave of Shakopee.
He was brought up to be a good boy and follow the rules, but the rebel in his soul was awakened when he saw “A Hard Days Night” at the local show house. It was an epiphany, his first religious experience. Seeing and hearing The Beatles planted a seed that gave his life new purpose and direction.
For years, his life straddled the fence between doing what was expected and doing what his spirit craved. The - go to school, get a degree and become a corporate dandy - plan started to unravel with his early rock band days in Zachary, Obadiah Smith and Outlaw.
The seed that was planted with the first British Invasion came into bloom with the second British Invasion of Punk and New Wave. He re-united with J.K. and B.Roy to form the Brothers Foolish and release the beast of the original music they were creating. The Brothers have been making music together since 1981 and continue to do so. This was the outlet he needed and still craves today.
It was time to take the leap and jump the fence he had straddled for too long. Good-bye corporate dandy, hello rock-n-roll. He formed The Jupes which was his vehicle to become a working musician. The Jupes have been playing together continuously for almost 30 years and still play regularly.
This transformative period also took Cruiser on a quest to the Pacific Northwest where he made music with a couple of surf punk bands, The Ultronz and the Wave Cats. While there, he tracked down his birth parents. They now owned a Turkish Bar called The Happy Hookah. Dad played in the house band and Mom had become an accomplished belly dancer.
His current project, Jiggs Lee Invasion fulfills an early musical ambition. Cruiser first saw Jiggs perform in 1967 with The Grasshoppers and has been patiently awaiting his chance to rock with Jiggs ever since. Add to this his long time brothers B.Roy and J.K. and playing the music that started it for us all… perfect!
Being born into a musical family had its advantages. As a young lad J. K. was already “comping jazz chords” with the Dick Kast Orchestra. Jazz had a certain appeal, but this was the 60’s and rock-n-roll guitar pulled at his heart and soul. Scotty Moore, Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, George Harrison, John Lennon, Keith Richards, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix… Young Johnny became a dedicated student of guitar and soon was laying down “riffs and licks” with the best of them.
By the age of 12, he was in demand as a player, not only for his guitar skills, but he was already over 6 feet tall and could grow a full beard. This gave him access to bars and liquor at a tender age and made him a great asset for any aspiring rock band. The Blues Congregation and United Rush were the bands where he cut his rock-n-roll teeth.
Full-time rocker, full-time student and sought after guitar teacher, J.K. spent the next decade with Outlaw, Smackie Brad and Zacharia. Some say his ability to successfully “burn the candle at both ends” comes from his good German work ethic and strong will. Others have whispered that it is the Americanized product of German genetic engineering from generations past.
The high powered pace continued in the 80’s, playing in Fragile with Jiggs and B.Roy. They played gigs week-in and week-out for over a decade and were one of the best working bar bands in the Twin Cities.
The 80’s also brought the urge to start performing original music. So along with Cruiser and B.Roy, he formed the Brothers Foolish. Probably one of the best power pop trios that you’ve never heard…unless you were lucky enough to catch them performing their own songs or anchoring a tribute to The Clash at The Fine Line.
J.K. is still “burning the candle at both ends” with all of his life pursuits. He has the ability to elevate and transform the sound of every band he plays in. He is burning up the frets with the current Cain line-up and with Jiggs Lee Invasion.
B. Roy Shultz
1952 - 2022
Drums
From an early age, B.Roy shared his parents’ love of Big Band music, especially the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. He dreamed of one day becoming a trombone virtuoso. This dream faded with the realization that with his compact Scottish physique, his arms would never be quite long enough to get full extension with the trombone slide.
To help ease his disappointment, his parents bought B.Roy “the gift”, his first transistor radio. From then on, it was a boy, his bike and his radio grooving to the sounds filling the air on KDWB and WDGY. B.Roy became a rock-n-roll sponge and realized his true musical destiny. The boy liked to hit things… and hit things in rhythm. 1... 2...3... 4... a rock steady drummer was born.
He was soon holding down the beat for Cell Block D, The Canterbury Tales, Orange Percent and various other groups. He dabbled a little with guitar and bass, but drumming was his true calling.
B.Roy was ready to go pro. The bicycle had become a motorcycle, the transistor radio a PA sound system from Freedom Electronics. Spice, Volcano, Trick, Harlot and other one-word named bands with sexual undertones were powered by B.Roy and his Slingo-Cannons©.
The early 80’s brought him together with Jiggs and J.K. in Fragile. They had a great run for over a decade, working weekly in the local bar scene.
The 80’s also introduced him to Cruiser, and along with J.K. they formed the Brothers Foolish, an original music project that continues to this day. If you were lucky enough to hang with the Brothers Foolish in the 80’s, you would understand the origin of the band's name.
B.Roy is a rarity in that he has been a working musician continuously since the 1960’s. Legacy, The Bulldogs, Cain to name a few more... and currently with Jiggs Lee Invasion.
Screw the trombone! B.Roy is living proof of the rock adage, “The better the drummer, the better the band”.
